What I Wore Hiking Devil’s Punchbowl

Hi Travelers! The number one question I get asked is what to wear hiking so I will put together a Pinterest Board together of what I wore to help you out after every hike. Read about my hike here. Enjoy!

Hiking on the Edge at Devil’s Punchbowl

The Devil’s Chiar Trail starts in Hell (the desert) and transcends into the Garden of Eden (the forest). The contrast is striking and I can’t help but draw upon those Biblical analogies, because the location of this trail is at The Devil’s Punchbowl in Pearblossom, Ca. This Los Angles County run park is right on the edge of the San Gabriel Mountains and the High Desert. It literally is in between 2 dramatic geologic worlds so if you’re looking for a trail with serious drama look no further… Continue reading

Hello Travelers! I visited Hearst Castle last month and put together a travel video for you and hopefully it inspires you to see it for yourself! Enjoy :)

3 Things I Look for in a Day Hike

  1. Weather- this will determine what gear to pack and what I wear. Also, this will make-or-break my decision to hike this trail or not. For example, I don’t mind hiking in light rain and in an area that isn’t prone to flash flooding. Yet if there is going to be snow and the trial already isn’t well marked, then you’re just asking for trouble now aren’t you :) . Continue reading

Hiking by Moon Light to a BBQ is as Great as it Sounds!

It might sound intimidating at first to hike in the dark with only the moonlight streaming through the tree branches and your flashlight to illuminate the dirt trail. But when you get to the trailhead you soon realize that this is going to be fun! Although before you get to that point let me rewind… Continue reading

Ending My Year At The Huntington Library and Gardens

Have you ever been somewhere and felt like it was telling your story? Yet the way it was being narrated was not obvious to anyone but you. Only to you did that painting speak to a specific experience, that statue remind you of someone you lost or a bench symbolize how you felt. As a writer I tend to “read too much into things” in order to convey symbolism or foreshadowing so perhaps that was what I was doing as I roamed The Huntington Library and Gardens on New Year’s Eve. It’s not hard to let your mind wander like that here and take everything in on a personal level. This place has a story of it’s own that is  narrated in the landscape alone. Let me show you what I mean… Continue reading

Seeing Old Mission Santa Barbara Through A Telescope

Some places are so old that I have a hard time connecting with them. What meaning could I find in a California Mission built in the 1790′s? But I’m a curious person and the lure of experiencing and learning something new got the better of me so I entered Old Mission Santa Barbara with an open but detached point of view. That is, until I turned a corner and saw it, a telescope.
